I think route 1 is very optimistic with just 3 days, so perhaps the North Rim would have to be skipped and just drive through. We must be back by the evening of the 5th, so we effectively have 4 days/3 nts to get there and would like to make it a scenic drive and to see one or two of the parks in Utah that we have always wanted to see. We will be spending New Year's in Park City, then leaving on the 2nd and driving back to San Diego.
